< Previous Welcome Maggie Bantick to the NNFP team!

We are delighted to have Maggie join our fertility and pregnancy team this year. Maggie has already started Hypnobirthing at the clinic, and we are really excited about the ‘Yoga for Women’s Health’ class that will be starting in March.

We’ll let Maggie introduce herself now!

Hello I’m Maggie and I’m really excited to be working with The Norwich Natural Fertility Partnership and being part of the pregnancy team. This is my tenth year of teaching. My classes are regular yoga, yoga for women’s health, pregnancy yoga and HypnoBirthing. My yoga journey started with my first class in 2001 and I just loved it. After continuing to practise I made the decision to train to teach. It sounds a bit hippy-dippy but I wanted as many people as possible to experience the peace that yoga brings. I left my finance job in London and started to teach in 2004. I haven’t looked back since.

I was asked by mums-to-be if they could join the yoga classes but the classes weren’t really suitable for them and this didn’t sit well with me, turning people away from yoga. So I trained to teach pregnancy yoga. The classes help the mums to stay centred and healthy during their pregnancy and they all enjoy and benefit from the deep relaxation session at the end. When I first starting teaching, although we focussed on breathing and relaxation techniques to use during labour and birthing, there was a definite need for something more. I was looking for a way to help the mums to take that wonderful calm feeling after a yoga class, into the labour room.

After some research I found HypnoBirthing. This teaches how to bring the mind and body into a deep state of relaxation in preparation for labour and birthing. HypnoBirthing helps so many mums to have a calm, safe and natural birth -  no longer feeling that their birthings are being managed by someone else. They are in control and feel empowered. Dads are very involved too and HypnoBirthing babies are extremely mellow! I chose to train with the HypnoBirthing Institute and studied the Marie Mongan method. This is the original and most trusted method of HypnoBirthing. It was started by Marie, a hypnotherapist, when she was birthing her babies in America in the 1950s. The couples that I teach become very evangelical about HypnoBirthing and tell everyone! This is great as it is so important to get HypnoBirthing out there. It really is something that every pregnant woman should know.

The combination of Pregnancy Yoga and Hypnobirthing work so well together, it is simply wonderful to see each woman through all the stages of her pregnancy and watch her blossom.

I am looking forward to teaching Yoga for Women’s Health in Norwich – superb for all kind of gynecological problems as it really gets the circulation moving in the pelvic. Classes run on Tuesday evenings at 7.15 and cost £30 for 4 weeks. You must let Maggie know prior to attending the class to make sure their is room for you, please contact her on [email protected] or ring clinic reception for further details on 01603 665173.
